Shifts and Activity
How staff start and end shifts, how activity waves and the leaderboard work, and where to set it all up.
1. What it does
Shifts record how long your staff are on duty. A member starts a shift, can pause it with a break, and ends it when they are done. Grande adds up the time into activity waves (a week, two weeks, and so on) and shows who is on top on the Activity Leaderboard.
2. Who can do what
- Moderator Panel lets a member start, pause and end their own shift.
- Manage Activity lets someone change the shift settings and the wave schedule, end a wave early and see the leaderboard.
- Panel owners and Grande admins have every permission.
Give a role these permissions in Roles by opening the role and turning them on.
3. Starting a shift
There are two ways, and they do the same thing:
- Moderator Panel: press Start Shift in the Actions. Once you are on shift, Start Break and End Shift appear, with a timer showing how long you have been on.
- Discord: use
/shift manageand press the buttons in the message.
While you are on a break the timer stops, and break time is not counted as activity. Press End Break to carry on. Ending a shift saves it. You can only have one shift going at a time.
4. Shift settings
Open Activity › Shifts in Panel Settings. You need the Manage Activity permission.
- Shift Logging: members must be on shift to log punishments. Server administrators are not held to this. Shift starts, breaks and ends are also posted to the Shift Logs channel.
- In-game Requirement: members must be in your ER:LC server to start a shift, and must stay there. If they leave the server while on shift (or on a break), their shift ends automatically after about a minute and Grande sends them a direct message. This needs their Roblox account to be linked.
- Minimum Playercount: how many players must be in the ER:LC server before a shift can start. 0 turns it off.
- Max On Shift: how many people can be on shift at once. Leave it empty for no limit. When the limit is reached nobody else can start a shift until someone ends theirs. Server administrators are not held to this.
- Activity Quota: how many hours staff must be on shift in each activity wave. 0 means no quota. When a quota is set, the leaderboard shows whether each member met it.
- Custom Activity Requirements (Grande+): press Manage custom activity requirements to give certain roles their own hour requirement. Pick a role, enter its hours and press Save. If someone has more than one of these roles, the requirement of their highest role (the one nearest the top of the Roles list) is used. Everyone else uses the Activity Quota. Without Grande+ the custom requirements are ignored.
Press Save in the bar that appears at the bottom when you change something.
5. Activity waves
An activity wave is one stretch of time that shifts are counted in. Open Activity › Leaderboard and use Wave Duration to choose how long a wave lasts:
- Duration in days: a wave ends after the number of days you enter. Leave it at 0 for no duration.
- End of month: waves end at the end of each month (UTC).
- End of week: waves end every Saturday at midnight (UTC).
- End of every other week: waves end every other Saturday at midnight (UTC).
- Every # day at # time and Every other # day at # time: pick the day of the week and the time (UTC) the wave ends.
Press Save in the bar that appears at the bottom. Use the × in the select to go back to no duration. When a wave ends, Grande posts its final leaderboard in the channel you picked for Activity End Wave Channel in Discord Integration, and a new wave starts straight away. You can also press End wave now to finish the current wave early.
The panel owner can start over from General › Danger Zone › Reset Activity Waves. This sets the waves back to 0 and deletes every shift. It can’t be undone.
6. The leaderboard
The leaderboard lists your staff by time on shift, minus breaks, for the wave you pick.
- Activity Wave: choose the current wave or any earlier one.
- Select member: look at one staff member.
- Filter by roles: only show members who have certain roles.
The leaderboard can take up to 5 minutes to update. In Discord, /shift leaderboard shows the leaderboard for the current wave and /shift online shows who is on shift right now.
7. Discord setup
In Discord Integration you can choose:
- Roles: an On Shift Role and an On Break Role, which Grande gives and removes for you.
- Channels: the Shift Logs Discord Channel and the Activity End Wave Channel.
- Nicknames: an On Shift Nickname and an On Break Nickname prefix.
8. If something does not work
- Start Shift does nothing or says no: check the In-game Requirement and Minimum Playercount, and that the member has the Moderator Panel permission.
- Roles or nicknames are not changing: Grande needs Manage Roles and Change Nickname, and its role must be above the roles it gives. It cannot change the nickname of the server owner.
- A shift ended by itself: with the In-game Requirement on, a shift ends when the member leaves the ER:LC server. They get a direct message saying so. If Grande cannot read your ER:LC server for a moment, no shift is ended.
- The leaderboard looks out of date: it can take up to 5 minutes to update.
- No wave message was posted: check the Activity End Wave Channel is set and Grande can send messages there.
